- 1
Cut the beef into cubes and combine with the olive oil, oyster sauce, maggi seasoning (or soy sauce), minced garlic, sugar, and black pepper in a bowl to marinate for 30 minutes or overnight.
💡 overnight provides best results
⏱ 30 minutes
- 2
Cut the bell peppers and yellow onion into bite-sized pieces.
💡 for onions, cut into quarters and peel off the center
- 3
Heat oil in a pan on high heat. Add the beef in a single layer and sear untouched for 2 minutes.
💡 if cooking a lot, do this in two batches so the pan doesn't overcrowd
🔥 high heat → sear⏱ 2 minutes
- 4
Shake the pan to flip the beef and sear the other side for another 2 minutes. Remove the beef and set aside.
💡 overcrowding drops the heat and causes the beef to steam instead of sear
🔥 sear → steam⏱ 2 minutes
- 5
In the same pan, add the bell peppers and onions. Cook until they reach your preferred doneness.
💡 leave the veggies in an even layer and untouched for a couple minutes to create char marks
- 6
Add the beef back into the pan with the 2 tbsp of butter. Turn off the heat and toss everything so the residual heat melts the butter to coat the beef and veggies.
💡 do not skip the butter
